On November 10th, representatives from Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (operator) and Kinder Morgan (owner), and We Energies (future customer) met with County Executive Samantha Kerkman, State Representative Amanda Nedweski, Bristol Administrator Randy Kerkman and Town Chair John Holloway. We shared the comments and feedback we have received from landowners and community members.
At this point, we can share the following:
The project is only in the exploratory stage – nothing is finalized at this point.
This is a project with the intent to deliver gas to identified end users. We Energies was identified as the major end user. We Energies has offered to be involved in the process of identifying a route for the line.
At this time, the company is attempting to identify a route, the one shown on the maps is just their first attempt. They indicate that they want to talk to land owners and do on site evaluations to determine if this route will work and to identify areas they need to avoid.
They understand that they did not do an adequate job in their approach to the municipalities and the landowners. They are meeting internally to determine how to improve their approach.
They have agreed to hold a company sponsored meeting, tentatively scheduled for December 11, 2025 at the Kenosha County Center. Time to be determined.
Randy and I indicated that the survey permission form was overly broad and unacceptable. They agreed to review and potentially simplify the form. They may make additional concessions. Any landowner who has already signed a permission form will be upgraded to the new form and benefits, if any, once completed.
Randy and I are meeting with gas line representatives this week to share property by property reviews of the initial proposed route, based on our personal knowledge of the area and insights that you shared with us at the meeting.
We will continue to update you as we get new information.
